Jammu & Kashmir Pilgrim Tourism provides an awe-inspiring range of

Kashmir speaks of a distinct religious heritage.
While the Peer Khoh of
the valley is famous shrine located in a natural cave of Jammu, the Ranbireshwar
temple of the state boasts of housing one of the biggest Shiva Lingam of
India.
The Raghunath temple of Jammu comprises of 17 holy temples within
its premises whereas the Peer Baba shrine is devoted to the Peer Budhan Ali
Shah.
Idgah is yet another popular muslim shrine located in the valley of
Jammu & Kashmir. Apart from the Hindu and Muslim religious sites, the state
of Jammu & Kashmir also accommodates a number of Gurudwaras and Churches.
The influence of Hindu temples in Jammu & Kashmir is considered as a
major reason behind the large number of followers of the same religionwho visit
the land more often than not. From Sri Mata Vaishno Deviji, Devka temple,
Shankaracharya, Amarnath, Awantipura, Aap Shambhu Temple, Sathrian, Raghunath
Temple and Gadhadharji Temple to Ranbireshwar Temple, Panchbakhter Temple,
Babore Temples, Krimchi Temples, Buddha Amarnath and Khir Bhawani Temple, Jammu
& Kashmir is full of Hindu holy shrines.
The faith of Islam has
originated in the land of Jammu & Kashmir in a very early stage. In fact
such is the spread of the Muslim faith in the state that many a region of the
valley are populated by majority of Islamic followers. The shrines of Shahdera
Sharief, Khanqah-I-Moula,
Jamia Masjid, Charar-i-sharief Chatti Padshahi, Ziarat
Baba Buddan Shah, Ziarat baba Roshan Shah Wali, Ziarat Peer Mitha, Panch Peer,
Dargah Garib Shah, Tomb of Sheikh Noor-ud-din-Noorani, The Shrine of Khan Saheb,
ImamBara Budgam, Ziarat Alamdar-E-Kashmir and The Tomb of Sham Ded are worth of
mention.
Christanity and Buddhism are the two other major religions that
have made a place in the valley of Jammu & Kashmir over the years. Zanskar a
prime area of the state is particularly famous for housing an array of old
monasteries. Then there are many places in the valley which are proud of ancient
churches where still the local Christians go for their Sunday mass.
Although each of the pilgrimages of Jammu & Kashmir are dedicated to
a particular sect, yet today these pious places are visited by people who belong
to several other faiths and religions.
